About the role

The person in this position has the responsibility for all correspondence related to the scheduling of teachers and students. All work associated with scheduling is done on MiSTAR. This person has the responsibility of entering data into the computer system related to student requests and the master schedule. Typing of the building master schedule and other related materials are essential tasks of this position. This secretary is also responsible for the duties associated with substitute teachers and Frontline, report cards, lockers, keys, transportation issues, and mail. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task efficiently and accept responsibility
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to interact diplomatically in person, electronically (email), and by telephone with administrators, teachers, parents, and students throughout the district
  • A spirit of cooperation with others in the office
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Publisher, and Google Docs
  • Proficient use of Mi-STAR preferred
  • Ability to keep accurate records and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented and accurate with date entry

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include good organizational skills, strong communication skills, and proficiency in computer systems and software.

Pay

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Secretarial Association, Michigan Education Association.

Schedule

Specific details involved in the position will be discussed with the administrator during the interview and at the time of hiring for the position.
