About the role

This second-shift position at our Stevens location operates Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with mandatory overtime and Saturdays. The role involves overseeing production activities, ensuring efficient operation of the production line, and helping the team meet production goals. You will supply the team, cover for team members on the line, and address any mechanical or productivity issues by reporting them to management immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment.
  • Train employees and plan staff scheduling rotation/tasks.
  • Print labels and operate machinery.
  • Report plant machinery breakdowns to maintenance technicians and supervisors.
  • Engage and motivate production team members while monitoring quality control and productivity standards.
  • Spot inconsistencies in slice thickness, weights, bacon quality, firmness, or tempering.
  • Stand for long periods (8 to 12 hours).
  • Push/pull levered weight carts weighing between 25 to 1,500 lbs using a pallet jack or electric jack if certified.
  • Assist machine operators in setting up supplies in the packer (top/bottom film, labels, inkjet) and on the slicer.
  • Verify the proper date and program is loaded into the packer and slicer according to the production schedule.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency to meet production guidelines, control giveaway, and uphold high-quality standards.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, and hold employees accountable when necessary.
  • Observe and address production problems while maintaining concentration during repetitive tasks.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and strong teamwork skills; work independently and adapt to schedule rotations.
  • Maintain timely records for CPQ checks and metal detectors.
  • Keep the work environment neat, clean, and hazard-free.
  • Identify and organize training and cross-training needs.
  • Work flexibly across various departments and locations.
  • Understand and follow health, safety, and basic hygiene rules.
