2nd Shift- Multicoiler Operator
About the role
Wieland is hiring a 2nd Shift Multicoiler Operator to work in the Finishing Dept. at our Wheeling, IL location. This is a fully on-site position responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Multicoil, ensuring all orders are completed on time and in line with priorities set in the WFS (Wieland Factory Suite) manufacturing computer system.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and as part of a team with safety as the number one priority.
- Follow all company and OSHA regulations.
- Turn on the WFS computer, review orders and priorities, and locate material with assistance from material handlers.
- Set up the proper pallet onto the end platform/lazy Susan.
- Stage and position coils on the loading table for processing.
- Safely operate a vacuum lifting system to transfer coils between platforms.
- Weld ends of coils together to produce one continuous run.
- Utilize the vacuum plate to transport the coil onto the end platform.
- Remove the completed pallet and prepare the machine for the next job.
- Maintain production schedule and meet throughput, yield, and scrap goals.
- Monitor material quality, including flatness, gauge, hardness, surface finish, and edge condition.
- Ensure proper identification of coils and samples.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other testing equipment proficiently.
- Work under pressure with high stress levels while maintaining a positive attitude in a team environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in heavy metals or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to negotiate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
- Work in non-temperature-controlled production environments.
- Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools.
- Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
- Use hands and fingers to handle, touch, or manipulate items.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds; team lift required for weights exceeding 50 pounds.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $21/hr - $25/hr, plus a $0.50/hr shift differential for 2nd shift. Pay is bi-weekly and reflects a good faith estimate to pay fairly based on experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, and qualifications.
Schedule
2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM.
