About the role
As a 2nd Shift Multicoiler Operator in the Finishing Department, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Multicoil, completing orders on time according to priorities set in the Wieland Factory Suite (WFS) manufacturing computer system. This fully on-site role is based in Wheeling, IL.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and as part of a team with safety as the top priority.
- Follow all company and OSHA regulations.
- Operate the WFS computer to review orders, set priorities, and locate materials with assistance from material handlers.
- Set up pallets on the end platform or lazy Susan.
- Stage and position coils on the loading table for processing.
- Safely operate a vacuum lifting system to transfer coils between platforms.
- Weld coil ends together to create a continuous run.
- Use the vacuum plate to transport coils onto the end platform.
- Remove completed pallets and prepare the machine for the next job.
- Maintain production schedules and meet throughput, yield, and scrap goals.
- Monitor material quality, including flatness, gauge, hardness, surface finish, and edge condition.
- Ensure proper identification of coils and samples.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other testing equipment proficiently.
- Work effectively in a high-pressure, team-oriented environment with a positive attitude.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in heavy metals or a similar manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to navigate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed.
- Walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
- Work in non-temperature-controlled production environments.
- Manual dexterity for handling tools, samples, and materials.
- Strong vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
- Use hands and fingers to handle, touch, or manipulate items.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; team lift required for heavier items.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $21/hr – $25/hr, plus a $0.50/hr shift differential for 2nd shift. Pay is bi-weekly and reflects a good faith estimate based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Schedule
2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
