Job Title: Machine Operator II – Sheetmetal FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt Department: Operations Supervisor: Production Supervisor Shift: 2nd What We Are Looking For Sheet Metal fabricates sheet metal products and equipment. Work may involve setting up and operating machinery to cut, bend, and straighten metal parts to supply our upstream departments with parts they need. What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role Operate all equipment in the sheet metal department, including brake presses, lasers, punch presses, sanders, and deburring machinesFill all part requirements to complete rounds for the kitting departmentRead rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, angle finders, protractors, and other measuring instrumentsRead and follow written and verbal instructionsRead and interpret blueprints and work ordersPerform appropriate preventative maintenance on equipment and toolingExamine finished work pieces for smoothness, shape, angle, or conformity to specifications and verify dimensions, visually and using hands, rulers, calipers, templates, or gaugesStart machines, adjust controls, and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properlyMonitor operations of machines and make adjustments to correct problems and ensure conformance to specificationsWork at different workstations as production needs requireMaintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly mannerUse proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on individual’s product line or work cellPerform other duties as assigned To Be a Great Fit For The Role Team oriented – values the synergy of a team and operates as a team playerEffectively collaborates, engages others in discussion and is hands-on in problem solvingA fast learner able to quickly come up to speed on business processes to manage and serve the needs of the organizationA passion for getting things rightCan-do attitude, committed to finding solutionsDemonstrated ability to read and comprehend blueprints and schematic drawingsDemonstrated proficiency with handheld tools and other measuring devicesDemonstrated proficiency with written and verbal communication and/or instruction Physical Demands Occasionally – Stooping/Twisting, Kneeling, Squatting, Visual Acuity (Near/Far), Keyboarding, Pinching, and Lift/Carry up to 50lbs alone and 75lbs assistedFrequently – Walking, Pushing/Pulling, Reaching, Gripping, Foot Use, and Lift/Carry up to 25lbsConstantly – StandingOccasionally – Occurs up to 1/3 of the timeFrequently – Occurs 1/3 to 2/3 of the timeConstantly – Occurs 2/3 or more of the time
