Key Functions & Responsibilities
- Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules
- Maintain efficient production levels in a fast-paced environment
- Identify alpha / numeric product codes
- Apply mechanical inspection techniques and practices
- Respond to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems
- Use proper Lockout/tagout procedures
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions
- Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers
- Absorb responsibilities for the packer/handler job to assist with relief breaks
- Keep the floor stocked with materials required for production
Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities
- Cover for the supervisor in his absence
- Train employees
- Plan, assign, and direct work
- Address complaints by taking them to supervisor to resolve problems
Required Experience, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of injection molding machinery and processes to include mold set-ups, trouble shooting and exposure to maintenance problems
- Read and comprehend complex, detailed instructions and correspondence
- Write simple correspondence
- Apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions
- Identify alpha / numeric product codes
- Deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and practices
