2nd Shift Mold Technician

Join an industry leader and innovator as a Mold Setup Technician on the 2nd shift. This role involves molding parts to meet internal and external customer requirements, including machine and auxiliary equipment setup, process parameter input, and maintaining a neat work area per 5S standards while adhering to safety policies. The position has four classifications (A, B, C) based on skill set and responsibility, with pay determined accordingly.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities vary by skill level and experience:

  • Level C
    • Complete B-level training curriculum.
    • Perform mold setup and color changes to meet production demands.
    • Set molding process parameters with assistance from a foreman, supervisor, or A/B-level technician.
    • Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency; collaborate with quality inspectors to identify defects.
    • Perform material handler duties as assigned.
  • Level B
    • Complete A-level training curriculum.
    • Set molding process parameters to ensure part quality.
    • Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment issues to reduce downtime.
    • Learn and adapt to new manufacturing technologies.
    • Work with supervisors to improve productivity and reduce scrap/defects.
  • Level A
    • Collaborate with quality inspectors to identify defects and adjust processes.
    • Sample new and existing molds.
    • Stay current with new molding technologies, auxiliary equipment, and robotics.
    • Promote safety by following policies and setting an example for others.
    • Maintain 5S standards and plant cleanliness.
    • Assume supervisor/foreman responsibilities in their absence.

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean work areas.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand/walk for most of the shift.
  • Frequently bend, twist, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and access machinery with fall protection.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift up to 75+ lbs.
  • Lift above waist/shoulder (up to 75+ lbs).
  • Perform hand/wrist/finger movements and foot pedal controls (e.g., forklift).
  • Occasionally use keyboards and perform squeezing motions.
  • Frequently exposed to odors, dust, and oil/grease.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability and interest in progressing through leveled Molding Technician training.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math proficiency.
  • Proficient in reading/writing English.
  • Computer proficiency.

Pay

Starting pay: $22.00–$24.00/hour (based on experience) + 4% shift premium for 2nd shift.

Schedule

2nd shift: 4:00 PM–12:00 AM.
