About the role

This position is based at the Dorn Color plant in Cleveland (Berea Road off West 114th Street) and reports to the Color Manager. The role is available for either 2nd or 3rd shift, with a shift differential included in the hourly pay package. The work environment is a climate-controlled Color Lab within a plant setting.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently match all varieties of customer-submitted colors, including gloss, satin, flat, metallic, stain, pearls, fluorescent, nutshell, and more.
• Read job tickets and follow Department Manager instructions for color-matching specifications.
• Operate and maintain equipment and tools such as spectrophotometers, computers, color-matching software, light booths, gloss meters, scales, mixers, drum lifts, and dispensers.
• Perform all functions of the color-matching process, including color formulation, batching, corrections, and retouches.
• Provide the Coating Department with the correct batch size of lacquer for each job.
• Minimize material waste and scrap lacquer to support cost containment.
• Properly store and handle all equipment, tools, materials, and customer standards.
• Communicate any issues in the color-matching process to the Color Manager.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all work instructions, procedures, and safety protocols for the Color Department.
• Perform additional duties to enhance departmental and company efficiency.
• Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials/waste in compliance with EPA and OSHA standards, including proper labeling and dating of containers.

Pay

Hourly pay includes a shift differential for 2nd or 3rd shift.
