Colorist - 2nd Shift

RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics with over 20 manufacturing plants worldwide.

About the role

The Colorist is responsible for monitoring and correcting production color utilizing existing formulas and spectrophotometer software, formulating new color formulations for plastic materials, and operating various manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Formulate new color formulations for plastic materials that meet customer specifications
• Monitor production color and make corrections to improve likeness to customer specifications
• Monitor color process and correct lab color samples utilizing existing samples
• Operate twin and single screw extruders, and injection molding machines to create color chips
• Maintain a clean working environment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Passing score on the RTP Company Color Test
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work processes, and adhere to safe work practices
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production
• Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
• Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed, up to every other weekend
• Willing and able to work in temperature extremes – hot and cold
• Must be able to pass a forklift test and a respirator fit test
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. regularly and stand for an 8-hour shift
• Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area (e.g., safety glasses, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyvek suit, gloves)

Working Conditions

• Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level
• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
• Occasional exposure to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
• Exposure to non-hazardous chemical agents

Schedule

• 2nd shift: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Overtime as required, including weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday)
• Assigned to an A/B rotating overtime schedule

Pay

Hourly Rate: $28.20/hour, including shift differential
