About the role
The 2nd Shift CNC Machinist role is located within Dover Precision Components (DPC), a segment of Dover Corporation. DPC specializes in delivering performance-critical solutions across various industries including oil & gas, power generation, marine, industrial, chemical, and general processing.
Responsibilities
- Work from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
- Edit CNC programs to manufacture parts per blueprint/drawings.
- Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
- Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
- Complete and maintains all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job.
- Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
- Perform first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
- Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and make competent decisions pertaining to job at hand.
- Maintain and monitor machine shop equipment.
- Safeguard against improper use and incorrect set ups to prevent extensive damage to machine or specific sections.
- Detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience as a machinist.
- Proficiency in shop math and blueprint reading.
Qualifications
- Beneficial if you have clear communication, both oral and written.
- Organization skills; keep area clean to 5S standards.
- Ability to meet productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner.
- Mental/Visual/Physical Effort: Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required.
- Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
