About the role
This is a full-time role at St. Jerome Academy in Hyattsville, Maryland for the 2026-27 school year. The position reports to the Principal.
Responsibilities
- Teach second-grade curriculum
- Support student development in reading, writing, mathematics, and other core subjects
- Incorporate classical learning methods to foster wonder and love for learning
- Engage students in the wisdom of Catholic thought, history, culture, and arts
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Valid teaching license in Maryland
- Experience teaching second grade preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
Qualifications
- Passion for classical education and Catholic values
- Ability to inspire and motivate students
- Effective problem-solving and organizational skills
- Experience with Montessori or classical educational methods
