About the Role

Hood Packaging Corporation is currently recruiting for a Press Operator for our Tifton, Ga facility who will be responsible for setting up and maintaining production. Included in their duties is ensuring that they read the order properly, ensure all raw materials are available, and follow all quality check requirements and ISO procedures.

Functional Responsibilities

• Safety of personnel and equipment, housekeeping, quality, waste amounts, required production reports, quality monitors, other documents or reports as required accurately and timely.
• Work and performs all duties in an efficient and safe manner.
• Responsible for the pre-setup and materials necessary to start an order.
• Responsible to assure oncoming shift has been communicated to and advised of all pertinent information regarding the machine, orders and status of equipment and personnel.
• Trouble shoots machine when it is down or not performing to standard.
• Assists maintenance with machine repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP's, Work Instructions, and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.
• Must know, follow and demonstrate compliance with all safety rules and understand working safely is a condition of employment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and walk on hard surfaces.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more throughout the shift.
• Ability to work all shifts including 12-hour shifts and nights.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.
• Ability to work in hot environments.
• Ability to use hands, arms and legs to operate equipment and perform job duties.

Knowledge and Skills

• Must be able to read and understand a manufacturing order.
• Must understand and demonstrate the mechanics of the machine and properly setting-up the machine to meet the requirements of the manufacturing order.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to complete a quality monitor.
• Moderate computer/data input skills are required.
• Moderate math skills and ability to read a ruler and tape measure are required.
• Must consistently meet or exceed start-up/shutdown and waste goals.
• Must work effectively as a team player and demonstrate and promote positive team spirit.
• Must be able to successfully communicate with other team members to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Must demonstrate successful knowledge, practice, understanding and compliance of all current work instructions for the position.
• Must demonstrate, follow and practice all safety rules, policies, programs and practices always.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED
