About the role

This position supervises childcare services for children in a preschool classroom environment. The role involves creating a developmentally appropriate program, developing individual education plans, and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and develops plans related to goals set for individual children.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with parents/guardians.
  • Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
  • Maintains all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Attends required preschool workshops, trainings and meetings as required by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the District.
  • Sets student goals and monitors and evaluates student progress using district recommended techniques.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must provide documentation of the following requirements:
  • A teacher-caregiver is 18 years of age or older and provides the licensee with documentation of one of the following:
  • Six months of child care experience AND a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma;
  • At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field;
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field;
  • N.A.C., C.D.A., or C.C.P. credential.

Qualifications

  • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.

  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
  • Modern office technology.
  • Preschool learning programs for children ages 2-5.
