About the role

The Seattle Colleges are seeking part-time Biology instructors who demonstrate a commitment to working within a diverse and inclusive community. The ideal candidate will teach various levels of Biology and possess a Master's Degree or PhD in the field or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality instruction using effective teaching strategies that support diverse student populations and promote student learning.
  • Audit and assess student progress and provide constructive, timely feedback to support academic success.
  • Ensure course materials are accessible to students in compliance with digital accessibility standards.
  • Foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Utilize appropriate educational technologies and communication tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Uphold the mission and values of Seattle Colleges by supporting student achievement and contributing to a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process.

Requirements

Required qualifications include a Master's Degree or PhD in Biology or a related field from an accredited institution. Experience teaching multiple levels of Biology is preferred. Candidates must be able to work effectively with diverse student populations and colleagues, and be willing to teach in various formats and class times.

Benefits

The position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. The salary range for part-time faculty is (generally P1: A1- E7): $7,703 - $11,537.33 (for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter). The target start rate of pay is $7,703 - $8,912 (for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter).
