About the role
KIPP Jacksonville seeks lunch monitors for their K-8 campuses. Each lunch monitor works a daily shift during the lunch hours of students at the school to ensure the safety and well-being of the students, staff and school facilities.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that norms and expectations for the cafeteria are adhered to by using positive reinforcement, stating clear expectations for students, and following the school’s steps to manage all student behavior(s)
- Maintaining the schedule for grade levels (i.e. overseeing transitions, monitoring time, giving time warnings, etc.)
- Auxiliary assistance in getting students through the serving line
- Auxiliary assistance in directing students to tables
- Warmly interacting with students while they eat
Requirements
- Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children
- Promptness
- Prior experience working with elementary students (highly preferred)
- Passing a background check, as required by law
