Immediate Part-Time Lunch Monitor (K-8)

About the role

KIPP Jacksonville seeks lunch monitors for their K-8 campuses. Each lunch monitor works a daily shift during student lunch hours to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and school facilities. This role is currently available at KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy.

Responsibilities

• Ensure norms and expectations for the cafeteria are adhered to by using positive reinforcement, stating clear expectations for students, and following the school’s steps to manage student behavior
• Maintain the schedule for grade levels (e.g., overseeing transitions, monitoring time, giving time warnings)
• Assist students through the serving line as needed
• Direct students to tables as needed
• Warmly interact with students while they eat

Requirements

• Deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children
• Promptness
• Passing a background check, as required by law

Qualifications

• Enjoys spending time with elementary students
• Flexibility when needed
• Ability to help a schedule run smoothly
• Prior experience working with elementary students (highly preferred)

Schedule

• 2-4 hours per day, Monday through Friday
• Maximum of 20 hours per week
• K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm (occasional meetings or events outside these hours)
• K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday dismissal at 1:30pm
• Every Wednesday is an early release day for students, allowing teachers to participate in professional development and content team meetings (except Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal)

Pay

Hourly rate: $14/hour
