Position Details

The Assistant Principal is accountable to the principal of the school to which assigned. The Assistant Principal assumes administrative and supervisory tasks as directed by the principal. The Assistant Principal is authorized to act in the absence of the principal as directed. The Assistant Principal is responsible for working as an integral member of the school's administrative team and Curricular Leadership team to ensure timely and high-quality implementation of the school improvement plan (SIP). This position will serve middle school grades at a K-8 school.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership and Supervision
  • Minimum of three years of teaching and/or administrative experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Must have or be eligible for Wisconsin certification as a principal. Must obtain certification in Educator Effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated success in providing differentiated learning opportunities for learners and the ability to take this success to scale with staff in a professional development capacity that includes job-embedded opportunities
  • Is an instructional leader with experience in instructional strategies for English Language Learners and students with special education needs.
  • Understand how to use multiple sources of data to inform daily decisions to improve instructional practice and instill this practice in staff.
  • Pursues and helps support innovative ideas and methods, remain committed to seeking out and sharing current research and evidence-based best practices.
  • Demonstrates an unyielding commitment to continuous improvement and an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels.

  • Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse group of leaders.
  • Capability to effectively build, develop, and maintain strong collaborative relationships with staff, teachers, parents, students, and community stakeholders to ensure that the school operates in the most effective manner possible to support the school and directing principal needs.
  • Able to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals, exhibit flexibility, and help drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adept at thinking strategically, translating plans into action, and exhibiting excellent judgment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and listening skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a high level of moral imperative to work in the best interest of children.
  • Demonstration of high levels of integrity, honesty, credibility, and courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions is a must.
