#254.1 - Temporary, Full-time (1.00 FTE) Resource & Other Teacher

About the role

Coast Mountains School District 82 serves approximately 4,100 students across nineteen schools in northwest British Columbia, covering an area comparable to Finland. The district includes the traditional territories of the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a and Tsimshian nations and communities such as Hazelton, Kitimat, Stewart, Terrace and Thornhill. The position is at Hazelton Secondary School in Hazelton, BC.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible to obtain)
• Experience teaching students at all grade levels
• Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum
• Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social and emotional learning difficulties
• Demonstrated strong classroom management skills
• Ability to relate well with students, parents and staff members
• Commitment to follow the goals and strategies outlined in the school and district framework for enhanced learning
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

• Relocation allowance: $1,000 – $5,000 (conditions may apply)
• Recruitment and Retention allowance: $3,500 paid over 10 months of the school year (based on FTE)
• Isolation Allowance (paid over 10 months): Hazelton $1,287; Kitwanga $1,528; Stewart $4,824

Pay

Salary range: $63,513 – $117,454 per year (based on 1.00 FTE), in accordance with the collective agreement between the Coast Mountain Teachers' Federation and the Board of School Trustees.

Schedule

Temporary full‑time position (1.00 FTE). Start date: immediately, with an end date of June 30 2027 (or earlier if the incumbent returns).
