About the role

Coast Mountains School District 82 serves approximately 4,100 students across nineteen schools in northwest British Columbia, covering an area comparable to Finland. The district includes the traditional territories of the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a and Tsimshian nations and communities such as Hazeltons, Kitimat, Stewart, Terrace and Thornhill. The position is a temporary, full‑time (1.00 FTE) Resource & Other Teacher at Skeena Middle School in Terrace, BC, running from October 13, 2026 to June 20, 2027 (with an alternative end date of June 30, 2027 noted elsewhere). Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social and emotional learning difficulties.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
• Relate effectively with students, parents and staff members.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to support enhanced learning goals outlined in the school and district framework.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible to obtain).
• Experience teaching students at all grade levels.
• Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Possess a Teacher Qualification Card.

Pay

• Salary range: $63,513 – $117,454 per year (based on 1.00 FTE placement on the collective agreement salary grid).
• Relocation allowance: $1,000 – $5,000 for teachers moving from other areas (conditions may apply).
• Recruitment and Retention allowance: $3,500 paid over 10 months of the school year (based on FTE).
• Isolation allowances (paid over 10 months): Hazelton $1,287; Kitwanga $1,528; Stewart $4,824.
