21CCLC Teacher/Tutor

Primary Responsibilities

• Facilitates and provides tutoring in small group or with individuals in accordance with program and center policies.
• Provides individual academic support to students enrolled in the After-School Program.
• Maintain effective communication with the Site Coordinator and/or school personnel at the assigned site.
• Follow direction of Site Coordinator or other manager(s) with respect to policies and procedures, and adhere to program requirements.
• Lead, participate in and take responsibility for individualized after school academic program activities at the assigned site.
• Participate in out-of-school-time academic program planning and design.
• Meet with parents, students and community members; communicate in a respectful and confidential manner.
• Identify needed supplies and resources, and inform Site Coordinator.
• Cook with teachers, as needed about what subjects need to be covered.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Teaching or Iowa Substitute Teaching License.
• Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.
• Willingness to work positively with and mentor youth.
• Pass required criminal background checks.
• Ability to perform all tasks identified in this job description.
• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Competencies

• Experience working in a school-or community-based out-of-school time organization.
• Knowledge of after school programs, communities and/or positive youth development.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish).

Physical Requirements

• Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.
• Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds.
