Primary Responsibilities
- Facilitates and provides tutoring in small group or with individuals in accordance with program and center policies.
- Provides individual academic support to students enrolled in the After-School Program.
- Maintain effective communication with the Site Coordinator and/or school personnel at the assigned site.
- Follow direction of Site Coordinator or other manager(s) with respect to policies and procedures, and adhere to program requirements.
- Lead, participate in and take responsibility for individualized after school academic program activities at the assigned site.
- Participate in out-of-school-time academic program planning and design.
- Meet with parents, students and community members; communicate in a respectful and confidential manner.
- Identify needed supplies and resources, and inform Site Coordinator.
- Cook with teachers, as needed about what subjects need to be covered.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Teaching or Iowa Substitute Teaching License.
- Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.
- Willingness to work positively with and mentor youth.
- Pass required criminal background checks.
- Ability to perform all tasks identified in this job description.
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience working in a school-or community-based out-of-school time organization.
- Knowledge of after school programs, communities and/or positive youth development.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Physical Requirements
- Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.
- Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds.
