Coast Mountains School District 82 is located in northwest British Columbia and encompasses the traditional territories of the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a, and Tsimshian nations. The district serves approximately 4,100 students across nineteen schools, including three alternate programs and a trades learning centre. The community is rich in Indigenous culture and history, benefiting both Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners.
About the role
This is a continuing, full-time (1.00 FTE) position at Cassie Hall Elementary School in Terrace, BC, starting September 1, 2026. The role focuses on teaching First Nations Language and Culture.
Responsibilities
- Teach students at all grade levels.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties.
- Work as part of a team to support enhanced learning goals outlined in the school and district framework.
- Apply strong classroom management skills and relate well with students, parents, and staff.
Requirements
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

- Experience teaching students at all grade levels.
- Commitment to the goals and strategies of the school and district framework for enhanced learning.
Pay
- Salary range: $63,513 – $117,454 (based on 1.00 FTE, previous experience, and TQS Category placement), as per the collective agreement.
- Relocation allowances: $1,000 – $5,000 for teachers from other areas (conditions may apply).
- Recruitment and Retention allowance: $3,500 (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on FTE).
- Isolation Allowance for remote communities: Hazelton ($1,287), Kitwanga ($1,528), Stewart ($4,824) (paid over 10 months of the school year).
