About the role

The Truist Internship provides college students with an 8-12 week working and immersion experience to sharpen their skills. During this internship, time is focused on summer-long projects with other students and full-time, experienced teammates. Interns have the opportunity to network with other interns, teammates, and senior leaders. Truist interns sharpen the leadership, technical, and business skills they'll use for the rest of their careers. The internship program serves as a pipeline to Truist full-time programs.

Program Overview

The Wholesale Credit Delivery - Commercial & Specialized Industries - Summer Analyst Program will run for approximately 10 weeks in the summer months and includes:

  • Networking socials, case studies, presentations, and team-building projects
  • Executive Speaker Series featuring the CEO, Wholesale Banking Senior Leaders, and others
  • Community service opportunities through various volunteer initiatives
  • Interaction with other groups and disciplines throughout the investment bank

Competitive Summer Analysts will be eligible to receive an offer to return in full-time positions as part of our analyst program upon completion of the internship. The starting hourly wage for this position is $38.

Responsibilities

  • Assist relationship managers and credit delivery teams with middle market and specialized industries client coverage
  • Work with portfolio managers and analysts to build financial projection models based on client profile, industry dynamics, revenue, and expense drivers to assess the borrower’s financial wherewithal to repay
  • Determine risk ratings and how they relate to probability of default/loss given default
  • Author annual reviews and assist in the development of credit underwriting thesis of new and existing relationships
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow, and credit metrics to support lending decisions
  • Conduct industry and company research to identify trends and business opportunities
  • Prepare client presentations, pitch books, and underwriting materials
  • Partner with teammates across Treasury Solutions, Capital Markets, Risk, and Credit Delivery to deliver comprehensive financial solutions
  • Participate in client meetings, networking events, professional development sessions, and executive speaker series
  • Complete special projects and assignments as needed
  • Complete a summer project and present recommendations to senior leaders

Specialty Groups

Senior Care Specialty Group

The Senior Care Specialty Group is a specialized team within Truist’s Wholesale Credit Delivery organization focused on providing credit expertise and financial solutions to companies operating in the senior and post-acute healthcare sectors, including skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, continuing care retirement communities, and other senior-focused healthcare services.

  • Partner closely with analysts, relationship managers, credit officers, and other Wholesale Banking specialists
  • Evaluate financial strength, operating performance, and credit needs of clients
  • Perform financial statement and cash-flow analysis, credit underwriting, risk assessment, portfolio management
  • Structure financing solutions tailored to the unique characteristics of the senior care industry

Government Contracting Specialty Group

The Government Contracting Specialty group focuses on providing credit expertise and financial solutions to companies that generate revenue through federal, state, and local government contracts.

  • Evaluate financial strength, cash flow, contract backlog, customer concentration, and overall credit profile of government contractors
  • Partner with analysts, Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and other Wholesale Banking specialists
  • Structure and manage financing solutions addressing the unique needs and risks associated with government contracting
  • Develop expertise in commercial credit, financial analysis, government contracting, and risk management
