2027 Summer Intern - MEP Project Management & Estimating Intern - Roanoke, VA
Location: Roanoke, Virginia – Hopkins | Lacy is seeking a MEP Intern for its Summer Internship program. The program provides a structured, supportive learning environment where interns develop skills and attributes needed for a successful career in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform actual responsibilities of the Preconstruction, Project Management, and/or Field Supervision team with training, support, and mentoring.
- Interact with subcontractors, vendors, and owners.
- Participate in cost planning and scheduling, materials procurement, cost control, and quality management.
- Prepare a presentation outlining the internship experience during the final stage of the program.
- Follow safety and security procedures and determine appropriate action steps.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled college student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Courteous and professional attitude when dealing with co‑workers, customers, and the public.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; travel is required.
- Passionate and determined to make a difference.
Pay
Salary range: $18 – $24 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors.

Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and move up to 10 lb and occasionally lift and move up to 25 lb. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
This is a full‑time position, typically involving 40+ hours per week.
