About the role

Select Sires, Inc., based in Plain City, Ohio, is seeking a Semen Processing Intern for a temporary full-time, hourly, non-exempt position at our Plain City, OH facility. This role reports to the Manager of Semen Processing and Quality Control.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values.
• Perform initial semen evaluation and processing.
• Sterilize glassware and lab equipment.
• Transport semen.
• Conduct semen quality control evaluations.
• Prepare semen extenders.
• Perform general laboratory maintenance and administrative tasks.
• Assist with research projects, including sample preparation and analysis.
• Opportunity to develop and execute an independent research project (not required).

Schedule

The Semen Processing Intern’s work schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Open to all undergraduate students studying animal/dairy science or a related scientific field.
• Preference given to applicants entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate education.
• Consideration for recent graduates planning to continue education in a pertinent field (e.g., graduate or professional school).

Physical Requirements
