About the role

Select Sires Inc., based in Plain City, Ohio, is a leader in providing highly fertile semen, genetic consultation, and related services to dairy and beef producers through farmer-owned cooperatives. As a Global Dairy Solutions Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the global dairy industry by working alongside experienced professionals. The role focuses on how genetics, management, technology, and market dynamics drive success worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values in all activities.
• Assist in developing and delivering training programs for field teams.
• Learn and contribute to the company’s genetic strategies and tools.
• Support the creation and enhancement of online training platforms for employees.
• Participate in on-farm training to understand best practices in dairy herd management.
• Understand and assist with the implementation of dairy or beef herd monitoring systems.

Schedule

Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Schedules and duties may vary to meet departmental needs.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or a related field.
• A positive attitude with a passion for learning and innovation in the dairy industry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.
• Ability to work highly variable, long days based on the needs of the Global Dairy Solutions team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience competing in the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge or similar programs.
• Familiarity with dairy management software.

Additional Details

Requested availability: May 24 to August 1. Intern will be paid an hourly wage, as agreed upon at hiring. Intern is responsible for their own housing.
