Hartgrove Behavioral Health System is accepting applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology for the 2027-2028 training year. The start date for the position is summer or fall of 2027.

About the Role

The post-doctoral fellowship provides the opportunity for enhancement of the fellow’s clinical, supervisory, and administrative skills. The fellow will be actively involved in the supervision of pre-doctoral practicum students, as well as in program development and administration. Additionally, the fellow will engage in direct delivery of psychotherapy and diagnostic services across the continuum of care, including inpatient and partial hospitalization programs.

Hartgrove Behavioral Health System consists of a 160-bed acute care crisis stabilization, for-profit psychiatric hospital, treating children ages 3 through older adults within 8 different inpatient programs. Hartgrove is the first and currently only hospital in the country to have received the Joint Commission’s Disease Specific Certification designations for Neuropsychiatry and Trauma Services.

Hartgrove Behavioral Health System is owned by Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the largest and most respected hospital management companies in the nation. UHS owns and operates 218 locally managed facilities, including 25 acute care hospitals, 187 behavioral health facilities, and six ambulatory surgery centers across 26 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Specialized Programs

  • TRAUMA Program: A Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) program for children, adolescents, and adults. The program addresses the impact of cumulative stress and adversity and provides group and/or individual therapy for approximately 100 patients receiving a higher level of psychiatric care. Efficacy is established through frequent monitoring of symptom reduction via outcome measures and educational checks.
  • Neuro Resilience Program (NRP): A Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-based adult inpatient program targeting individuals with suicidality, self-injurious behavior, depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mood and adjustment disorders. Patients receive DBT skills groups and individual therapy under the supervision of a certified DBT psychologist. The program includes two specialty tracks: substance use and trauma, and features a sensory regulation cart for self-soothing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pre-doctoral practicum students.
  • Participate in program development and administration.
  • Deliver direct psychotherapy and diagnostic services across inpatient and partial hospitalization programs.

Requirements

  • Completion of a minimum 2,000-hour internship in clinical psychology.
  • Awarded doctoral degree by the start date.
  • Strong diagnostic and therapy skills.
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Interest in furthering clinical, supervisory, and administrative skills.
