2026 PhD Graduate - Artificial Intelligence and Complex Systems Postdoc Researcher

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to AI for Science projects with national security impact.
• Design and evaluate modern AI/ML methods, including deep learning, foundation models, physics-informed learning, and closed-loop discovery architectures.
• Establish collaborations with science and engineering domain experts.
• Propose new ideas for funding and develop relationships with Program Managers to align work with sponsor needs.
• Publish research in impactful venues and engage with the external research community and sponsors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: PhD in AI, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering.
• Experience: Published research in peer-reviewed journals and/or conferences.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python; experience with AI/ML methods (e.g., deep learning, large language models, graph neural networks, diffusion modeling, neural operators).
• Infrastructure: Experience with containerized, cloud, High Performance Computing (HPC), or distributed computing environments.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance (start date) and ultimately a Top Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Plus):

• Background in materials, chemistry, biology, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience in project management or leading technical teams.
• Track record in writing technical proposals for government research sponsors.
• Experience applying AI/ML to real-world data (remote sensing, omics, materials, additive manufacturing).
• Proficiency with PyTorch, JAX, or related scientific computing libraries.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $85,300 - $155,500 Annually (Actual amount varies by experience, location, and skills).
