About the role

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team at the ByWater Institute, Tulane University, working under Prof. Ibrahim Demir.

Responsibilities

• Develop and fine-tune advanced AI/ML models using techniques like multimodal multi-task transformer-based architectures, large-scale generative modeling, graph neural networks (GNNs), and reinforcement learning frameworks.
• Design experiments to evaluate model robustness and address potential biases.
• Contribute to open-source libraries and pursue novel research directions through interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Pursue competitive funding opportunities from agencies such as NSF and NIH.
• Mentor graduate students and disseminate findings in high-impact journals and conferences.
• Engage with diverse stakeholders to ensure that AI breakthroughs are translated into real-world impact.

Requirements

PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with a strong background in machine learning and AI methodologies.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale generative modeling and multimodal data processing.
• Knowledge of graph neural networks and reinforcement learning.
• Strong publication record in relevant fields.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
