About the role

The Parts Specialist provides counter service to MaineDOT employees who need parts/equipment to perform their jobs. The role involves assisting with inventory control, data entry in inventory systems, customer service, and occasional driving of a MANCON vehicle to pick up parts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inventory control
• Data entry in inventory systems
• Customer service, including reviewing requisition forms, answering questions about part availability, and informing customers when parts are available
• Pick up parts from designated locations in a MANCON vehicle
• Provide company documentation to vendors and review invoices for accuracy
• Return purchased parts to the MANCON location in a timely manner
• Assist in generating invoices for customer requisitions
• Assist in entry of vendor receiving documents in the inventory system
• Auxiliary inventory management tasks, such as performing weekly inventory cycle counts and participating in Wall to Wall inventories
• Drive company vehicles to pick up parts as needed
• Assist with inventory research projects as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• One year of computer experience
• Twenty-four hour availability
• Valid driver's license with two years of driving experience
• One year of experience with auto or heavy duty truck parts
• Delivery driver experience
• Inventory experience
• Obtain and maintain a forklift certificate (training provided by MANCON)

Qualifications

• Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Driving, Lifting, Reaching, Sitting, Standing, Stooping, Walking
• Work is mostly performed in storerooms and warehouses which may have uncontrolled temperatures and dirt/dust/damp conditions. Work is also performed in vehicles traveling to sites.
