About the role

Long Term Substitute Counselors are needed for the 2026-2027 school year. A Minnesota K-12 School Counseling License is required.

Qualifications

  • A valid teaching license in School Counseling K-12 issued by the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities including effective communication, collaboration, and leadership.
  • Strong technology skills to support student success and data-driven programming.
  • Knowledge of reporting procedures related to the maltreatment of minors.
  • Understanding of roles and services offered by support agencies.

Responsibilities

Licensed School Counselors address academic, career, and social/emotional development needs by designing, implementing, evaluating, and enhancing a comprehensive school counseling program. They work to align their programs with the American School Counselor Association National Model.

  • Direct Student Services: Provide core counseling curriculum, small group counseling, and individual counseling.
  • Indirect Student Services: Make referrals, provide consultations, collaborate, and plan activities.
  • Program Planning / System Support: Promote readiness activities, manage student PLPs, and assist in creating multi-tiered systems of support.

Benefits

This is a 10-month position working 20-40 hours per week. Pay range is $29,292 - $111,399, with a maximum hiring step of step twenty (20). Benefits information is available at this link.
