About the role

Durango School District is recruiting licensed substitute teachers for the 2026‑2027 school year to work with our amazing students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Work a flexible schedule at multiple locations and in different positions.
• Navigate the electronic system independently to accept and decline assignments, maintain schedules, view teacher’s notes, and communicate with staff.

Requirements

• Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license OR a 3‑ or 5‑year Colorado substitute authorization OR a 1‑year Colorado substitute authorization with completion of at least one year of post‑secondary education.
• Experience working with children; experience in a classroom setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication, basic language, basic math, and basic writing skills.
• Minimum of two professional or academic references (family or friends not accepted).
• Strong computer skills.

Pay

• $185 per day for a full‑day assignment.
• $195 per day for 3‑5 consecutive day substituting assignments.
• $265 per day for long‑term substitute assignments.

Schedule

• Flexible schedule; ability to work at multiple locations and in various positions.
• Opportunities for short‑term (3‑5 day) and long‑term assignments.
