Substitute Teacher - 2026-27

The West Platte School District is always looking for qualified substitute teachers. All prospective substitutes must submit the Substitute Teacher Application and have a valid Missouri teaching certificate, or Missouri Substitute Certificate.

Requirements

• Register on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's (DESE) website (www.dese.mo.gov)
• Submit official college transcripts showing the completion of at least 60 college credit hours directly to DESE
• Have your fingerprints captured for a background check through the MACHS Fingerprint Portal (www.machs.mo.gov) using the West Platte registration number, 1625
• Complete screening through the Missouri Family Care Registry
• If you have a current Missouri teaching certificate (any certification), you do not need a substitute certificate

Pay

• $35/quarter-day
• $70/half day
• $140/full day
• $150/long term-extended assignment
