Essential Functions
- Communicates safety and security policies procedures to students, staff and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and for the maintenance of a positive campus climate.
- Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring student behavior before and after school, during and between assigned periods, and at student events.
- Assists students in complying with established guidelines and assists with the implementation of the school's emergency response plan in the event of a school emergency.
- Patrols school facilities for the purpose of providing visibility, maintaining safety and security, and promoting a positive campus environment.
- Prepares written materials for the purpose of documenting student behavior activities, providing written reference of activities, and/or conveying information.
- Provides traffic and parking control for the purpose of maintaining efficient traffic flow and use of parking lot/s.
- Refers incidents including personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel for the purpose of ensuring follow-up in accordance with administrative, site security and student safety guidelines.
- Responds to a variety of situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking the appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.
- Supports and enhances campus culture through the use of practices that encourage students to understand the impact of their actions, be reflective of their actions, and find a means to make amends for their actions.
Other Functions
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and the social emotional well being of the campus.
- May assist or be assigned to other district campuses as needed.
- Attends district behavioral safety training for de escalation strategies.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills, Knowledge And Abilities: Adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including software; preparing and maintaining accurate records; understanding health standards and hazards; understanding safety practices and procedures; scheduling activities; collating data; using basic, job-related equipment; adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; setting priorities; working with frequent redirection of priorities and duties.
