About the Role

The secretary is responsible for carrying out all assignments including making some independent judgments and decisions based on information provided by the principal.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Type 40 wpm accurately
  • One year of secretarial experience and/or work experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ledger and all activity account records in accordance with Board Policy and state law
  • Provide monthly and annual summary of activity fund to the Principal and the Chief Financial Officer
  • Maintain purchase order log, type purchase orders, and ensure adherence to activity account purchasing procedures
  • Distribute and maintain records of teacher’s receipt books
  • Process district requisitions and maintain purchase orders
  • Order, distribute and maintain inventory of all supplies for school
  • Responsible for sales and distribution of school fundraisers
  • Make daily deposits
  • Receive all monies from sponsors and balance all accounts
  • Keep all financial records current and ready for audit on short notice
  • Experience with computer programs, Microsoft Office, ten-key, and copiers
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above

Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form

  • Frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions
