About the role

The English Teacher - AP Seminar position at Paradise Valley High School is an interim role spanning two semesters from July 27, 2026 to December 18, 2026 and January 4, 2027 to May 27, 2027. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the instructional process by developing student success in academics and skills, supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, collaborating with other teachers and staff, and responding to inquiries from parents or guardians.

Responsibilities

• Administers subject specific assessments and tests to assess student competencies.
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians about student progress.
• Affirms student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals.
• Counsels students or refers them to appropriate school personnel.
• Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners.
• Differentiates classroom work for individualized learning.
• Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers.
• Instructs students in a defined course of study.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various educational settings.
• Participates in meetings and PLC teams.
• Prepares written materials and reports health and safety issues.
• Responds to inquiries and emergency situations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Arizona Teaching Certificate in the appropriate core content area.
• SEI Endorsement.
• Clearances: Criminal Background Clearance, IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
