About the role

The English Teacher - AP Research position at Paradise Valley High School is an interim role spanning two semesters, from July 27, 2026 to December 18, 2026, and January 4, 2027 to May 27, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Administers subject specific assessments and tests to assess students' competencies.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians about student progress, communicating expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
  • Affirms student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals by providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to enhance student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives aligned with the school improvement plan.
  • Counsels students or refers them to appropriate school personnel to improve performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues.
  • Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners to provide an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
  • Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
  • Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
  • Instructs students to improve their academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various educational settings.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings, including district, staff, departmental, and PLC team meetings.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials, such as grades, attendance, anecdotal records, and other required documentation.
  • Reports health and safety issues to assigned administrator and appropriate agencies.
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direction.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a job-related area, an Arizona Teaching Certificate appropriately certified in the core content area, and an SEI endorsement. Clearances and certifications are required.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment, and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Applying curriculum and instructional techniques, reading technical information, composing documents, facilitating group discussions, analyzing situations, drawing conclusions, and utilizing specific equipment.
  • Abilities: Scheduling activities, meetings, and events; gathering, collating, and classifying data; using job-related equipment; establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; working flexible hours; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; adhering to all district policies and procedures.
