[2026-27] Bus Monitor (starting $18 per hour)

About the role

Reporting to the Transportation Manager and also accountable to the Director of Transportation. As a KIPP ENC school bus monitor, you will comply with all NC School Bus Safety laws in accordance with the NC Department of Transportation.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission and vision of KIPP ENC
• Provide a safe, healthy, consistent, positive, caring environment for children and staff
• Foster positive student culture
• Ensure happy and healthy students and parents
• Report to work daily and on time
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining discipline on school bus; monitor and assist students while bus is in operation
• Assist driver in assuring seat belts, harness and wheelchair clamps are secured as required
• Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students; coordinate seating of pre-kindergarten students as required by State Transportation Guidelines
• Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED Certificate
• Able to follow oral and written directions
• Knowledge of safe practices concerning school bus transportation
• Ability to communicate effectively
