About the role
Bus Monitors assist the driver with the supervision of all students during the route, ensuring their safety.
Responsibilities
- Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Complete training requirements annually.
- Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Keep to assigned schedule.
- Discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Report accidents and complete required reports.
- Exhibit professional conduct at all times.
- Fulfill Board Policy to exhibit neat, clean, and orderly dress and appearance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Must pass physical, drug testing, and background felony check.
- High school diploma preferred or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school, and other district employees.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule, or blueprint form.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds; occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
- Solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of situations.
- Interpreting instructions in various forms.
