Sacramento State’s Department of Graduate and Professional Studies in Education (GPSE) prepares individuals to be agents of change, committed to social justice, equity, and inclusion in culturally and linguistically diverse schools and communities. We seek part-time lecturers to serve in the following areas:

About the role

  • University supervisors for students seeking California Credentials in Counseling, School Psychology, and/or School Administration. Responsibilities include traveling to local schools to observe, support, and/or evaluate credential candidates, and collaborating with supervisory and instructional faculty.
  • Instructors for graduate-level courses in the following Master’s programs:
    • Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
    • School Psychology
    • Counseling Programs
    • Multicultural Education
    • Gender Equity
    • Language and Literacy
    • Curriculum and Instruction
  • University supervisors for MS Counseling Practicum students at the Center for Counseling and Diagnostic Services, involving instruction and supervision.

Duties include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments (dates, time, modality) are determined by the Department Chair. Appointments are conditional, based on enrollment and budget, and typically last one semester. Renewals depend on department needs, funding, and performance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the field you seek to apply or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate.
  • For instructional faculty: prior experience in the field you are applying to teach.
  • For field supervisor positions: experience mentoring or coaching.

Pay

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges (full-time rate for 15 weighted teaching units) are:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
  • Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
  • Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
  • Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month

Compensation is pro-rated based on units assigned (e.g., a Lecturer A assigned 3 units at the minimum salary would earn $1,101.40 per check for 6 payments, totaling $6,608.40 for the semester).
