2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI)

About the role

The Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Responsibilities

• Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours.
• Collaborate with faculty to maintain consistency throughout the program.
• Teach courses in their area of expertise.
• Teach courses in the late afternoon and evening, with some programs offering courses during the day.

Requirements

• A master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited university.
• A California teaching credential or equivalent.
• Several years of experience teaching in K-12 urban school settings.
• Experience teaching in online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
• Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Previous experience teaching at the university level.
• Experience teaching in online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes and familiarity with online class management systems.

Benefits

Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary schedule information for the faculty lecturer is available based on the following ranges:

• Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent: $5,507 - $6,677
• Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent: $6,221 - $13,224
• Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent: $6,825 - $14,523
• Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent: $8,593 - $15,211

Schedule

Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Lecturers will teach courses in their area of expertise. Courses are typically taught in the late afternoon and evening, with some programs offering courses during the day.
