Pay

Minimum Salary: $4,000.00
Maximum Salary: $4,000.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (application details)
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports)

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise a total sports program for 7th Grade Girls Basketball
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
• Demonstrate and instruct behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
• Work with students interested in sports, providing necessary practice support and advice for team success during the sports season
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal
• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions

Schedule

Involves work on evenings and weekends. On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.

About the Role

The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. This position reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
