Pay

Minimum Salary: $2,500.00
Maximum Salary: $2,500.00

Requirements

• Athletic Coaching License, 7-12
• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License from the New Mexico Public Education Department
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports)
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball
• Commitment to examining new theories and procedures pertinent to the field
• Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training
• Foster individual and team success while promoting socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
• Work with students to provide practice support and advice for team success during the sports season
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal

About the Role

This position reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals. On-site attendance is mandatory. The role involves evening and weekend work.
