2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - 5th/6th Boys Basketball Coach

Athletic coaching position at Navajo Elementary School for the Winter sport season. Contract length aligns with the basketball season. Internal applicants must attach a signed Permission to Coach Form to their application.

Pay

$2,500.00 (fixed contract amount).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Must hold or be able to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success.
• Demonstrate and teach behaviors that foster character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
• Stay updated on new theories and procedures through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
• Work with students to provide practice support and guidance for team success throughout the season.
• Teach and enforce sports rules and regulations.
• Serve as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals.

Schedule

Evening and weekend work required during the basketball season.
