About the role
Coopertown Middle School is seeking a Special Education CDC (Cognitively Delayed Child) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have a certified background in Special Education and be prepared to support students with cognitive delays.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with cognitive delays.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in a classroom setting.
- Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive student support.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Current teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students who have cognitive delays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
- Valid teaching license in Tennessee.
Skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for teaching students with cognitive delays.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology to support student learning.
