2026 - 2027 School Year - (Part-Time) Vision Teacher

About the role

The Vision Teacher will provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Responsibilities

• Provide vision-related therapy and training to students.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers and staff to develop and implement IEPs.
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding special education services.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Current certification in Special Education.
• Knowledge of vision-related disabilities and their educational implications.
• Experience working with students who have visual impairments.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using assistive technology.

Skills

• Knowledge of Braille and tactile graphics.
• Ability to use sign language and/or other assistive technologies.
• Experience with low-vision aids and adaptive equipment.
