About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at LONG, WALTER V. ES is responsible for providing instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and abilities.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and school staff to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
• Assess students' progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to meet their academic and social/emotional goals.
• Participate in IEP meetings and other professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in special education.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• A valid teaching license in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
