About the role

This position is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with moderate to severe disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and abilities.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and school staff to provide a comprehensive educational program for students.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education from an accredited institution.
• A valid teaching license in Special Education.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience in a special education setting.
• Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.

Skills

• Proficiency in using assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
• Experience with data collection and analysis tools.
