About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at THE TRANSFORMATION NETWORK is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. The role requires a deep understanding of special education principles and practices, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with other educators, families, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and abilities.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students in a self-contained classroom.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, school psychologists, and administrators to support student success.
• Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and other professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth through participation in workshops, conferences, and other training opportunities.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid teaching license in Special Education and possess a minimum of two years of relevant teaching experience. A bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals are essential. Proficiency in using technology tools for lesson planning and assessment is also required.

Skills

Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, effective communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
