About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at Jacobson, Walter ES is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and school staff to support student learning and development.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress and needs.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• A valid teaching license in Special Education.
• At least two years of relevant work experience in special education.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• Proficiency in using assistive technology and accommodations.
• Experience with data collection and analysis.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
