About the Role

This is a full-time, licensed certificated position for a Special Education Generalist in a self-contained classroom setting at the elementary school level.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and provide instruction in academic, functional, and behavioral areas to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and related service providers.
• Use evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to support student learning and growth.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and other behavior management techniques.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure students' needs are met.
• Maintain accurate records, including IEPs, progress reports, and attendance.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.

Requirements

• An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must possess or be able to acquire by the time of appointment a teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education.
• Certification in Special Education or relevant subject area.
